Adele is an Australian artist who lives in Brisbane and the co-founder of House of Aya. She specialises in heavily textured abstract expressionist paintings, and has a passion for colour and movement. This would make Adele seem like a natural-born artist, but in her early days not everyone agreed. In fact, her high school art teacher gave her a failing grade for the subject!

Of her work, Adele says, “Living in vibrant India for six months as part of my studies saw me fall in love with colour and the way it reflected joy across circumstances, something I continue to explore today in all my pieces. I love interpreting light, movement and emotion through layers of expressive strokes and marks, and am obsessed with this creative process.

But most importantly, I love creating beautiful things. That emotional connection when you look at something and feel at peace, that’s what I aim for. I try not to take life or art too seriously. My paintings and dresses are fun to create, and I want to pass this on to the viewer/wearer!”

When Adele isn’t working on her art or running House of Aya, you’ll find her with her biggest supporters: her wonderful husband, Ace, and her amazing 3 little kids - all under the age of 6!
